The wellnut has compressed and created a secure waterproof attachment. Using a screw driver, tighten completely until you meet firm resistance. Put the long screw through the pad eye and into the wellnut. !!! DO NOT USE WATERPROOF SILICONE IN THESE HOLES AS IT WILL MAKE THE WELL NUTS SPIN AND NOT TIGHTEN !!! Use the 3/8 inch drill bit and drill each of the marked holes. Do the same marking on the opposite end of the kayak. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email us at Installation with Wellnuts: Using two of the pad eyes, take one pad eye and place it approximately 1-3 inches down from the top roll of the kayak on the gunwale (still above the water line) and approximately 12-15 inches forward of the stern or bow. For all other kayaks, you will use the long screws and wellnuts to mount your pad eyes.
For pulley installation on Viking Kayaks, you will use the 8 small M5 screws provided and mount the pad eyes into the bow/stern brass inserts. Kayak Specific Tips: This trolley will fit all kayaks. Use waterproof silicone in any holes you drill EXCEPT where you use wellnuts.
